Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Legal age to move out of one parents house to the other

We are looking for an answer to the question of how old do you have to be to move out of one parents house to the other without permission from the parent that you live with. I have a 17 year old stepson that is not wanting to stay with his mother and is wanting to move in with his dad and we need to know where he stands as far as the law. My husband is listed on him Birth Certificate as his father but is not his natural father. So please help us to see what we can do.

First, is there an order adjudicating the man on the birth certificate as the 17 year old's father? Second if the man has been adjudicated as the father with conservatorship decided you will need to file a petition to modify the order concerning who is the Primary Conservator and the child support. The 17 year old can choose the parent with the court's approval. This is complicated you will need a lawyer. If you are in the Houston area we can help if not this web site has many qualified attorneys. Good Luck!
