I have legal custody of my grandson we want to adopt him but cant afford it. My daughter wants to sign her rights to us and there is no father in the pic. Can she sign her rights away?

Yes, but the only way you will have actual legal guardianship over the child is by an official adoption or guardianship court order. This procedure will include her officially signing away her parental rights but court order is the only way for that to be legal and official. As a temporary arrangement she can sign a limited power of attorney allowing you to take care of the child and consent to his education and medical treatment but this is not a court order or legal custody and gives you very limited rights concerning the child. Contact legal aid in your area for assistance with adoption.
