Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
is there a legal way to emancipate my adoption?
i was legally adopted in the early 70's...my adoptive parents were extremely abusive - both physically & emotionally...in the early 80's i contacted child protective services to report the abuse...even though child protective services didn't believe me, my adoptive parents disowned me...we have been estranged since 1985...i would like to legally disolve the adoption...is this possible? if so, what would this entail? please advise...ur help is greatly appreciated!

I fully understand why you seek to "dissolve the adoption," but I am not certain whether the courts would entertain such a proceeding.
Parents are legally obligated to care for their children both financially and otherwise. This includes parents of a legally adopted child.
Generally, the child becomes "emancipated" once the child reaches the age of majority, 21. Once emancipated, the parents have no further legal responsibility for their child.
Based on my math, you are emancipated and your parents have no legal obligation to care for you. Thus, the proceeding that you propose would have no legal significance.
I would also caution that you may actually cut off any inheritance that you may be entitled to if you were permitted to legally sever your ties to your adoptive parents.
