Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My ex and I have been in legal proceedings for a year and a half now, with lawyers, and an amicus for our daughters. We tried mediation but got nowhere. Then he finally backed down and we drew up a mutual agreement. It is signed by each of us, and legally notarized by a lady from his church. The lawyers were upset we did this but say the agreement is not legally binding until they type it up as modification orders and we all sign it together. Is this true? Or can I just file the agreement as it is and make it binding?

What you signed is nice but I doubt it is worded so that it is enforceable by contempt if either of you violate it. It must be worded properly & signed by a judge to be enforceable.
