Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

What are my legal rights in regards to child support charges that's been applied to me from back/current support. I submitted documents 3 years ago the the AG Office but they were never placed into my folder regarding the amount i owe but couldn't afford to pay. If i had two other childrens that i was paying support on but the third and last child was getting the majority of the support, can i have the amount reduced based on my document i submitted to the AG Office but it was never put into my folder. Is that proof enough to say i did submit the proper information to prove that my income did not coincide with what i was making. The document has the fax date on it also. This has put me in debt with the IRS because i had to increase my dependants on my W2 so i could make ends meet.

You're out of luck as far as changing the amount of your monthly child support in a retroactive way. It just can't be done.

Don't rely on the Attorney General's office. You should simply forget that they exist. They aren't your friend, and they won't do anything for you.

Hire a private lawyer NOW and get something filed NOW that asks for a reduction in your child support. A judge CAN make the change (the reduction) retroactive to the date you filed (or got Mom served), but he can't go back any farther than that.
