Legal Rights due to Husband Abandoment
My son-in-law has abandoned my medically challenged daughter, took all the furniture that was her's before marriage, and has refused all help. In addition, he has taken some of my personal property. Are there any options available to make him responsible for what has occurred? I am a widow on a pension, and don't have much money for a lawyer.

As you describe, your daughter's husband has taken community property and converted it to his personal and separate property. I don't know how much this may amount to, but the property would be likely recoverable in a divorce. Sometimes the legal action itself will result in the return of the property if it is still available. This can sometimes be done fairly economically. A lengthy divorce over propeerty can be very expensive. You can contact your local county bar association in the phone book for the availability of pro bono services.
