Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

legal separation

I an planning to leave my husband and I want to purchase another home. I live in Dallas, Tx and I heard that if I buy a home, he would have the right to the home. The rent homes monthly payments are much higher in some cases than buying a foreclosure. I would let him have the home we are in now. What is the legal advice I need to make sure if I bought another home?

Re: legal separation

There is no legal separation in Texas.

I usually encourage clients NOT to buy anything before they are divorced.

A divorce can be done in 61 days if the parties agree on everything.

I practice in Harris County primarily.

If you need a Do It Yourself Kit, I sell them. I won't have the Dallas local forms but I have the state required forms.

My price for the kit varies depending on how much work I do.

Be wary of on-line kits, many were not designed by TX attorneys.
