Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Legal Seperation and Divorce Laws in Texas

What are the laws on legal seperation and divorce for the state of Texas? How do I go about getting a legal seperation? I am in the military and stationed in Germany but was married in Texas and am looking into getting legally seperated or possibly divorced. Is there are time line that needs to be followed? Is there any paperwork that needs to be filled out in order to legally seperate?

Re: Legal Seperation and Divorce Laws in Texas

Texas does not have legal separation.

You need to file for divorce in the county you listed as your home county when you entered the service.

Where you married is irrelevant.

The state that you are a permanent resident of is the state you divorce in.

I hope this information is helpful.

Good luck!
