Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Can he legally force me to move?
I have recently (Jan 1, 2004) found out that I am pregnant with my now ex-fiance's baby. Last night we got into a huge fight because I told him that I was planning on staying in school until the baby was born (around Sept. 10, 2004), and then ''maybe'' moving home to be closer to my family so I could have emotional, and physical support. I also want to finish nursing school. He just moved to Dallas two weeks ago, and I currently still live in Austin. Last night he said that he would not allow me to raise our child in the ''formative years'' in East Texas. He also basically told me i had to move to Dallas, life as I know it is now over, and also told me that I WOULD NOT WORK while raising our child. His suggestion is for me to move to Dallas, in my own place, and deal with it. As I tried to plea my case to him, he then threatened me that if I did go back home, he would have me followed by a priviate investigator until I did something ''wrong'' (and he means leave the baby with a baby sitter, date someone, etc) he would then have the child taken away from me. He then told me that he could ''legally'' force me to move to the city he lives in....Is this true?

He will have some parental rights but he can't force you to do anything. You may consider filing a petition to have his parental rights terminated.
