Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Legally married?????

When I got married in June of 1986 the groom was going by his step fathers name not his legal last name. He assumed his step fathers name but was never adopted. We were married under this name. Shortly after we were married he got a job for the state of Texas. He was required to use his legal name. Our four children have his legal name as do I. However, our marriage license was never changed to his legal last name. So my question is are we legally married in the state of Texas?(We have been separated for 16 years now. No divorce has ever been filed.)Thanks! Julie Brookshire

Yes you are legally married. It was a little messy, but still legal.
