Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I am in a lesbian relationship. My family doesnt agree and says that if I move out with my partner and my son, they will help my sons father take him away from me. I am 30 years old with a 4 year old son. My partner is 37. Neither of us have a criminal record, my partner has a great job and I am getting my GED. They are telling me I am damaging my son. What can I do? Can he be taken away from me for me being gay? We have been in a relationship for almost 3 years.

You are in a fairly conservative (more so than others) area of Texas. You should be proactive, and consult with an attorney now, and explain your concerns and expectations. You could get valuable advice regarding the case, before it even happens.
