If life insurance is purchased after a divorce decree is signed, upon ones death, is the life insurance part of the estate? The divorce decree states that life insurance shall be a credit against this obligation.

Life insurance proceeds are a non-testamentary asset; they aren't part of the estate unless the beneficiary is "the estate."
