Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
I live in Texas. Can the Child support division levy a bank account for back due child support without first notifying the person owing the support? I've widdled my arrears down from approximately $5000 to $1200 and become unemployed. They never did that when I owed a lot and now my bank account is levied and checks will be bouncing all over the place. With no electricity and rent bouncing, I don't understand how this is good for the child. Yes, I am responsbile for paying the support and acknowledge that. But surely, there are a lot of people out there in my situation. How does my gettng arrested for bounced checks get back due child support? I frequently talk to the OAG and have never received a threatening word. I need some advise.

Unfortunately the answer is yes.
The computer did it.
No human did it.
The computer finally found an account that matched your social security number.
I'm only surprised that it look this long for their computer to find you.
From now on stick to a cash basis.
Most men that owe past due child support, do not have any accounts under their social security number.
They have bank accounts under a wife, girl friend or mother's social security number and they hope that they never have a fight with that person.
One man put his social security number on his son's college fund account and TX A G "grabbed" that money. The man and his son had to prove it was his son't earnings from his part-time summer job! They eventually returned that money!
Is it fair? No.
They never give any notice or else you would have closed your account(s).
That is why men hate the TX A G so much!
