Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I live in Texas. My daughter is 3, she has her fathers last name. He has not been in her life for over 2 years. Can I change her last name to mine?

In order to change her name, you would have to file a petition, and serve him with notice of it. If he objects, then the court is not likely to grant the name change.
