Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

i live in texas and my ex lives in arkansas. My child wants to live with me in Texas. Do I need to get a lawyer in texas or in Arkansas? And what would happen if I went to get her because the child is asking me to before going to court?

1. [I am assuming that there is no provision in the decree limiting the child's residence to Texas, and that the child has lived in Arkansas for six months] You will have to file your motion to change custody in ARKANSAS.

2. If you "go get her" without a court order, you could get in trouble.
