Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Living araingement

I live in Colorado, my ex lives in Texas, and the childrens ages are 11 and 12. They are staying with him for the summer and now want to stay for the school year. No problem, except, what if at the end of the school year he refusing to let them come back? At that time they will be 13 and almost 12. Why they are there, am I obligated to pay child support? And if I draw up some papers my self stipulating certain things, and have him sign it and have it notarized will it hold up in court in TX or CO? Thank You

Re: Living araingement

At 12, a child may designate where (s)he wants to live (mom/pop) subject to court approval. Parents have the duty to support their children. You are in a formal proceeding and should behave formally; that means a letter agreement without a formal modification COURT ORDER signed by a judge with JURISDICTION over the children may not do much to help you legally.
