Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Living with boyfriend, can I loose my child?
I have custody of my 5yr son and his father lives in Oklahoma it's a constant battle to get him to pay child support. Three months ago my son and I moved in with my boyfriend and his two daughters. I take very good care of my son, have a stable job(so does my boyfriend)he's enrolled in school and a very good daycare. My ex says that if I take him to court to establish child support payments through the court(he pays directly to me)he will fight for custody and since I am living with someone I'm not married to he will get custody even though he has a history of quitting a job and going without one for a time and his wife can't keep a job so at any given time one of them is not working. Can he take my child even though he is taken very good care of in my custody?

Re: Living with boyfriend, can I loose my child?
The Court is going to do overall what it thinks is best for the child. I do not think that living with your boyfriend, in and of itself, would result in a change of custody. If this is so important to Dad, why does it come up only when you want to talk about child support?
