Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Living Trusts and Wills
Is it legal to write out your own Living Trust and Will in Texas without being and attorney? If so, do we need to use Texas forms?

Re: Living Trusts and Wills
You can do whatever you want.
However, if you do it wrong your heirs will cuss you when you die.
I sell the Statutory forms (not a will) for $100 and I notarize them for free.
This includes:
1. Directive to Physician
2. Future Need of a Guardian
3. Medical Power of Atty. for Health Care.
4. Who should handle your remains after you die.
5. Statutory Durable Power of Attorney
(for business decisions and paying bill)
If you have a large estate (over $250,000) I would think you want to do it right and also avoid any potential IRS problems.
There is an old saying -- trying to save a nickle and ending up spending a quarter - or something like that.
I don't fix my own plumbing and my plumber does not practice law!
There are many excellent attorneys that are not thousands of dollars.
I'd be glad to refer you to someone.
