Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

How long is the divorce petition I filed in Bexar County good for? My husband wants to try and work it out. Can I leave it filed just in case? I just recently filed last month. Can I put a hold on my petition? I don't want to withdraw it yet.

It's "good" until the court dismisses it for want of prosecution. Some courts do this in six months, and some take much longer. They will send you a notice before they DWOP.

Mr. Dunn is absolutely correct. The simple answer is: it depends. You should be safe for at least 6 months, but the court/clerk will send out a notice of imminent DWOP (dismissal for want of prosecution) before the case if dismissed.

Good Luck!
