How long in general should it take for a temporary modification of custody papers hearing to be heard?

There is no answer, because every case is different. Some cases can be set within a week or two, if it is a 30 minute hearing. If it a complex situation with numerous witnesses, it could take months to get on the court's docket. If there is an emergency, which can be established with limited testimony, then the court will make itself available. Modification of custody is a matter that the court's do not take lightly. Rearranging a kid's life is often a traumatic event, even if it's in the kid's best interest. Talk to your lawyer.
