Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Long term relationship problem

I was in a 8 year relationship have 2 children together. we were never married he filed for a divorce in kaufman county in may of last year and the judge dismissed all of the petitions filed because they were not valid. I left him in may of last year we still dont have any type of legal custody paper. I did file an attorney general case because when i moved I applied for food stamps. I am currently looking to move to florida. He has become increasingly possesive and continuely makes threats about taking the kids. I would like to know what the best route would be to take to put a stop to this negative relationship as i feel it is only having negative effects on my children. I have thought of filing a restraining order.. I need some direction and some knowledge of what my rights are and his rights are.

Re: Long term relationship problem

Based on what you have written, there are a few different directions you may want to pursue. Dependent upon which county you live in, you may want to consider following through with a protective order and obtaining the appropriate court orders to establish paternity, custody, support, and visitation (maybe supervised). You should consider speaking to a local family law firm to protect your interest and rights. If my local firm can assist you with this legal matter or any other legal issue, please contact us at [email protected] to arrange for a consultation.
