Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
I lost my divorce lawyer with two weeks notice with till the final of the divorce. I hired an attorney in April and never even got a chance to meet him due to one excuse after another but stupid me not knowing what was right from wrong and being walked out on by my husband I thought that was the drill. Anyway sorry. In April 2011 my husband walked out on my and moved to another city. He is in the military and the bread winner in the home. We have one son but he is 25yrs old and we have been married for 21years. Besides being misled by the attorney I had and dragging things on till August with first court date for temp orders and no representation in the court room that day I find myself lost, confused and to be homeless in two weeks, per the judge already stating that the house will be sold. Also two weeks after my husband walked out i lost my job and am on unemployment and with no job yet with all efforts for employment done. I am at a loss my husband wants to not help of course cause he said he won. Thank you and God Bless

Regarding the house: Just because it is to be sold does not necessarily mean you have to move out. It may take a very long time to sell the house. Surely the court will let you live there while it's on the market.
You need to make sure you asked for spousal support in your pleadings with the court. You are probably entitled to receive support and the new support statute might be in effect in your case. You will also be entitled to a portion of your husband's military pension. In the mean time, make sure you are diligently searching for a job and that you can document your search. Texas is a hateful state when it comes to spoual support and you'll need to be able to show that you diligenty pursued employment that would provide for your minimum reasonable needs.
Also, if you can specifically identify a bank account or a source of funds that your husband has, you can get the court to order him to pay interim attorneys fees so you don't have to do this alone.
Don't think in terms of winning or losing. Just identify your interests and go after them.
Good luck!!
