Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
low cost divorce
We were married for little over a year. We do not have any common property or children. As I work part time, I am looking for a very low cost solution. Now, my questions are - 1. If she wants, then can she claim anything from me although we do not have anything together?
2. If I file my own divorce (with online divorce filing kits), and I get into any trouble later, then would it be very hard/expensive for the attorney to assist me?
Thanks a lot for your service.

I totally agree with Mr. Yoakum's answer.
The last 2 on-line divorce kits that clients brought into my office were not worth the postage. They were NOT written by TEXAS atttorneys.
I'm an attorney and one was soooooo confusing that I could not even understand what the kit was trying to say. The last 2 kits that I saw would NEVER work in Texas. They were missing major things that the State of Texas requires!
If you have no money, try to find a free law clinic. You can call the State Bar of Texas for leads in your area or try Lone Star Legal - with locations throughout Texas.
Of course, I always suggest hiring an attorney. There are many good ones that advertise in places like the t.v. guide or the greensheet.
If you live in Harris County, I offer a do-it-yourself kit for $150. And it works!

The online divorces often do not comply to the state or local rules. Call our office for a very low cost divorce.281-485-0990
