Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Can you please tell me whether or not it is mandatory that I change my last name from my married name to my maiden name after my divorce? It is stated that my name be changed in my divorce decree, but I still use it so that my young son still sees that as a connection between the two of us? Is there a website or some reference material that I may show as proof that I may still use my married name as long as I wish? Thank you.

I would talk to your divorce lawyer about your question.

You must only use one name in the State of Texas.

You can use any name as long as you are not hiding from the law or creditors. At the present time, your married name is the name you are using.

There is not website that I'm aware of that addresses your question.

Your ex might not be happy that you are keeping your name but I don't think he can do anything to do but make you miserable.
