Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Hi, my name is Maribel and I have a 16 year old son who back in May 2010 ran away for a night with his girlfriend, who was visiting Houston from Colorado. After they were found and she was taken back home to Colorado she told my son that she was pregnant, well it's been 8 months and she says she is due March and we are just lost for words or anything because first of all we didn't believe her in the beginning, things just didn't add up right but throughout the time that has passed she's emailed us pictures of ultrasounds, with her name, a doctor's name, hospital, etc. all which do exist in Colorado. She's sent us pics of her growing belly and yet her parents have nothing to say to us, they chose to pretend that it's not happening. The kids still communicate on a daily basis and want to be with other and both feel helpless. My husband and I as parents did not want this for our son, well for both of them, they are so young, but if it is true and she truly is expecting from my son, then we want to take some responsibility and help her, we want to help them! I wish for them to continue school and I told him that we would support them until they accomplished with finishing school and finding jobs, but my question is how?? She's a minor, what can we do? Our hands are tied behind our backs, her parents have closed themselves to any contact with us whatsoever. They are also in a different state with different laws, I just want to know if there is anything at all that we can do since the her parents do not want to cooperate with us. Please advise! Thanks!

She is in Colorado and the baby will be born in there. So, the Colorado courts will have jurisdiction. You need to contact an attorney in the city where she lives and get advice under that state's laws.
