Re: Marriage in a another country

If you intend to get married in France there is no need to get a Texas marriage license as the marriage would come under the laws of the France. As a general premise, the State of Texas will recognize almost any type of marriage ceremony by a person which at least one of the parties believed was authorized to perform such if it takes place in Texas. Texas will also recognize any marriage done in compliance with the laws of any foreign jurisdiction. If you marry in France, you must comply with the marriage statutes in France. Don't waste your $46 for a marriage license in Texas. You're likely going to have to pay for a French one.
