Marriage in Mexico

I want to get married in Mexico and the US not find out, is this possible if my husband and I don't ever file jointly? Is there a way I can get married and the US not find out about it?

Re: Marriage in Mexico

I'm not exactly sure what you are asking.

I assume that you file tax returns each year.

If you lie on your tax return about being single, I believe it's a crime. However, I don't handle federal law cases.

If you apply for a mortage in the US and claim you are single and you are married, again that is fraud.

If you apply for a loan at a bank, normally you sign a statement that everything you write down is true. If you claim you are single and you are not that is fraud.

You really need to talk to an attorney about what you are trying to hide.

Good luck!
