Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
What's he up to?
I have been married to this man for 3 months and am ready for a divorce. He hit me in april, but I dropped the charges, the state picked them up. So far nothing has happened to him. He goes back next week. He is now out of my house (7 years ownership) He has not worked since we got married. Now he is claiming he has to go live in a shelter and says he won't sign the paperwork, what is the big deal? Does living at a shelter help his case? He claims he doesn't want the divorce but has done everything possible to make sure I file. Please someone help??? What do I do. We have no kids together. Married only 3 months.....

Re: What's he up to?
You will need to file for divorce, and have him served with the papers. If you are in Dallas County, the approximate cost of filing fees and service fees to the county will be $400.00. Different counties vary, however, most will be about the same. If you have not accumulated any debt or assets during the marriage, and if there are no children of the marriage, I can accept your case for a $500.00 down payment. The total attorney fees are difficult to estimate, as it is unknown if he will contest the case, and if you will need a restraining order against him. TCL
