Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Married in Oklahoma - Divorced in Texas is it legal

I found out that some states do not accept the cancellation of a marriage. I was married in 1990 in Oklahoma and divorced in 1998 in Texas. I would really like to know that I am legally divorced!!

I am somewhat confused by your use of the term "cancellation". I assume that you mean divorce.

Each state, for the most part, recognizes marriages and divorces in other states. If you were legitimately divorced in Texas; ie, met all of the correct jurisdictional and procedural requirements, then every state should recognize both events.

However, if by "cancellation" you mean something other than a full divorce then an attorney would have to know much more to evaluate the situation.

If you were properly divorce in Texas, then Oklahoma should recognize your divorce under the full faith and credit provision of the U.S. Constitution.
