Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
I have been married for 18 yrs. We are now divorcing. I have stayed home w/ our 3 daughters for most of those 18 yrs. My husband has built a stable & reliable career w/ the railroad providing him w/ insurance, 401k & retirement. I am currently not working. Due to the circumstances I need to know what I am entitled too for my daughters and myself. He will be leaving our house and I will get it in the divorce. Is it to my benefit that I am not working right now? I know I am entitled to child support and a portion of the railroad retirement. But I don't know how much or when I can it. He is not offering any informative answers. I am scared to death that I will not be able to pay the bills and support our daughters. Your advice is greatly appreciated.

You are probably entitled to a disproportionate share of the community estate which you and your husband have accumulated during the course of your marriage. You need to contact an attorney to assist you with this matter. I am a board certified specialist in the field of family law, practicing in the general Houston area.
