Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Marrying older man...can I go out drinking with him??

I've been with my boyfriend for 2 years, and I am 20, he's 40. I was wondering, if we get married, can I legally go out drinking when I'm with him? When a couple gets married and one is under the legal drinking age is the older person considered their legal guardian? Also, how long do you have to live together to become common law married in Texas? Thank you.

In Texas, if you do certain things, you can be common law married after being together for one night.

There is no magic time -- 7 years if a common number -- but I have no idea where people got that idea.

Read the Texas Family Code available on line to determine if you are common law married.

Good luck!

You're kidding right?

Yes you can go out drinking with him after you are married. Sober up when he gives you the prenup.
