Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Mediation

What do I have to do when ordered to go to mediation on child support & medical reimbursment issues. We have a court order agreement, so I am not understanding what we do in medidation and what rights I have while in mediation.

Re: Mediation

You can attend mediation with or without an attorney. It is a process where a neutral, trained mediator attempts to negotiate a settlement of the pending case. If the parties agree, the mediation is binding. Normally the parties are in separate rooms. The mediator identifies the issues involved and what each parties' goals are. From that point the mediator goes back and forth attempting to achieve a resolution of the case.

You stated you have a court-ordered agreement. A final agreement? Or an agreement to mediate? If you have a final agreement, in a court order, there is no reason to be going to mediation.
