Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Can mediation settlement be changed prior to proffing up divorce?
We were ordered to meet with a mediator and an agreement was reached, I though my lawyer had told me that things could be changed prior to the finakl divorce hearing. After signing the agreement and having a few days to think about everything there are two additions I would like to make to the final divorce settlement. Can this be done in additiona to the mediation or is the mediated settlement the final say?
Thanks

Re: Can mediation settlement be changed prior to proffing up divorce?
That depends. Some mediated settlement agreements are binding, and if the issue was discussed and mediated, then that cannot be set aside, absent a showing of some kind of fraud or deception. Some agreements are not binding. Sometimes an agreement can be binding as to certain issues, but if other issues were not medidiated, then can be resolved as supplemental issues. TCL
