Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Medical and delinquent child support payments owed
My last child turned 18 and graduated high school, therefore my ex-husband no longer has to pay child support. He has a balance of $5,000.00 in old medical payments and delinquent child support that he still owes me. He says he will pay, but I haven't received anything in 3 months (since my last child graduated). This balance is due from a combination of things over the last 8 years. Is there a time limit on me trying to collect this money? Can I leagally try and get it from him and what kind of documentation would I have to have?

Yes, there is a time limit and you better move fast. It may already have run. If it hasn't then you can sue to get a judgment for all he owes. I'm not sure if you can get withholding for payments of the same, but it's worth researching to find out, and if you can, to sue to do that which is better than a judgment, which you may or may not be able to collect; possibly, you could do both.
