Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

medical responsiblity

I am from Texas and my divorce decree states that i am responsible for maintaining insurance on my children and 50% of any unpaid medical bills, which I do. My question is, My 14 year old daughter requires glasses, my ex-wife buys her glasses and contact lenses, am I required to pay half of each or just the glasses, I thought contacts were a luxuary, not a necessity.

Re: medical responsiblity

For people with bad eye sight, sometimes contacts are not a luxury but a necessity. Sometimes glasses do NOT provide the best vision for people with bad eyesight.

I don't know how your divorce decree defined what you are responsible for medically.

Many decrees I read state braces are covered. Braces used to be considered a luxury too.

I know that contacts don't cost most. Why not pay it? It's probably cheaper than your ex going back into court and asking you to be held in contempt of court.

My opinion - it's sad that you will punish your own child in order to hurt your ex-wife.
