Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
medicating a minor child
My grandchild is on medication for ADD, his father's girlfriend increased the dosage without the Dr instruction. She notified the school nurse by phone to do so. His mother took him to his Dr. after finding out when the boy became sick to his stomach and the doctor reduced it back to what it should be. The school nurse was notified.
The father is defending the girlfriend even though it made his son sick . This is the second time she increased it. Did the girlfriend break the law by increasing the dosage on her own and is the father neglecting the child to protect the girlfriend. Is there any legal action that can be taken? The girlfriend also washed his mouth out with soap and spanked him with a wooden spoon.
The child makes straight A's, perfect attendance and is well liked by his peers and school admin. His father was once married and now divorced from this person. There are two other children in the house who belong to the girlfriend. I fear for this child from this person and the lack of protection he receives from his father. Please help guide me in the right direction. I feel as she acted like a drug pusher by doing this. She is not a dr/nurse or any kind of health professional to make this kind of decision.

You really need to sit down with a good family law attorney and go over all the details of this situation. This isn't really something that can be addressed in an email.
Please feel free to call and make an appointment. I do not charge for initial consultations.
