Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Minnesota Insurance company won't recognize informal marriage in Texas.

I work in an office in Texas who's parent company is in Minnesota. Our health insurance company is also in Minnesota. They won't recognize my informal marriage in Texas and are now removing my wife from my insurance leaving us to pay for the past bills. But, they do recognize same-sex domestic partnerships.

Are they allowed to do that? Is there anything I can do?

Wow! This makes no sense to me.

Have you talked to their legal department. Informal marriages are in the TX family code which is available on-line.

You might need an attorney to help you. You might want to call Patricia Bushman (also on this website). Tell her that Fran sent you!
