Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

What right does my minor son have with visitation of his son? He and the mother of the child are both 17 and unmarried. My son is listed as the father on the birth certificate and both mother and father signed the AOP. The mother decided to use her last name instead of my son's, which was not our wish. The mother and her family do not want child support, even though we offered. Can they use this against us and not allow visitation?

Your son needs to get a court order of paternity which will establish child support and visitation. Find him a good family law attorney.

If you want to sit down and just discuss your options, then I charge $1 a minute to do this.

($60/hour).

I also highly recommend PAT BUSHMAN -- the attorney that answer your question above.

She deals with cases like your son's on a regular basis.

You need to go to court and get the mother ordered to allow visitation with the child.

Of course, your son will be ordered to pay child support, even if he does not work. It might be nimimum wage child support based on a 40 hour work week.

Good luck!
