Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

How old does a minor in Texas have to be to legally change their last name in Texas. This child is not legally adopted but has lived with his paternal Aunt since the day he was born. He is now 12 years old.

He can change his name at any age, but until he is 18, his parents will have to be notified of the suit to change his name and they will have the ability to consent or object. Otherwise, once he turns 18, he can do it on his own without his parents having any input.
