Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Misinterpreted accusations

I am 38 yo police officer with three stepchildren. Oldest female stepchild (11y/o) stated that I touched her chest inappropriately. CPS began investigating and asked me about the allegations, as well as my spouse and all the children. Explained to CPS that there was no abuse, however I do play with kids and horseplay. I told CPS that I have given the children ''skin twisters'' in jest and horseplay. I informed them that this was not even done on the actual breast, but I was told that it was still inappropriate and was defined as sexual abuse. I told CPS that just playing with the children did not define abuse, because there is no intent to arouse or gratify the sexual desire of any person. CPS said that this was still considered sexual abuse and inappropriate, and validated that claim. They advised that they needed to notify the local law enforcement agency of the allegation and that it would be up to them as to whether or not they proceed with any further actions. I have been a police officer for 5 years and am a decent, good man with no unethical qualities. My career and livelihood are at stake and I wish to clear my name of these distorted allegations. Can you please help and offer some advice?

Re: Misinterpreted accusations

This is not a simple matter where simple "advice" over the internet will help your situation. As you recognize the charges are very serious. If you are taking this matter seriously, you will have to discuss the situation and your options with an attorney in your area.
