Re: missed paternity hearing

I also assume the case is in MI.

I don't know MI law. You need a MI attorney.

In Texas, if the child is declared "disabled" you can be ordered to pay child support for the rest of the child's life.

Run, don't walk to an attorney!

Re: missed paternity hearing

If the ex is in Michigan with the child, they filed there, right?

You might want to repost your question under under "relates to MI law" since the laws vary from state to state.

In general, though, if you blow off a hearing, you will loose by default. That could mean paying back and present and future child support and medical support.

You better get hold of a lawyer in the proper jurisdiction, get a DNA test, and hope it's not too late.
