Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Modification without notice???
My wife and I have been fighting with my wife's exhusband for over two years now about visitation of my 8 year old stepdaughter. On many occasions, he has refused us the right to pick her up on our reguraly scheduled times. Today, when we went to pick her up, they refused again and then showed us an order signed by a judge that said our visitation had been modified and that we are now only allowed to see her from 2-4pm on Saturdays. The problem is, we were never served and never notified that this was going to court!!! How can a judge sign an order like that without hearing from both parties involved?? We cannot afford a lawyer and we are at a loss at what we need to do! Please tell me that a judge cannot do this!

OK a judge should not do that. If you cannot afford a lawyer try the law library. Since you have internet access try a search. You can represent youself anytime you choose. I can fix my car any time I choose. My problem is that I know very little about how a car works. I spent years learning how the law works. I hire a mechanic for my car problems - you can choose how to handle your legal problems. Good Luck.
