Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Modify Support Order

Texas - My 11 year old son wants to come live with me. He turns 12 in October but I'd like to have him move in before the beginning of the school year, will the court allow? Once a temporary order if filed, when is the soonest effective date? My 13 year old son wants to continue to live with his mother, how will child support be determined?

Re: Modify Support Order

There are no quick, simple answers to your questions. Just because your 11 year old wants to live with you, it's not a done deal. He gets to express his preference at age 12, but the Court is not bound by his wishes. Is your ex going to agree to him living with you? I offer no-cost initial consultations. If you want to talk, call my legal assistant, Arlene, and set up an appointment.
