Re: No money need help

If the husband has money, then I presume that a good amount of it is community property and thus half hers. If funds can be identified, even if in his name, then the court will order the funds paid to the wife's attorney for fees. No reason to loose custody because the money is in the husband's name.

Call an attorney in your area. They may work with you on initial retainer. If in the Dallas area, give me a call.

In the Houston area, there is Gulf Coast Legal Foundation and Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program. Both are listed in the telephone book. Both offer free services but they are swamped with requests.

A lot of people borrow money from friends and relatives to hire an attorney.

If the husband's assets are community property than 50% of it is hers. Usually an attorney will require some money down to become the attorney of record on this case.

Often churches or other non-profit groups will help with legal fees.

If you live in the Houston area, I offer a free telephone consultation. Be sure to let my secretary know that you got me off lawguru.com. My phone number is 713-847-6000. If I am out of the office, there is another attorney in the office, Judy Ritts, that would be glad to speak to you.

Best of luck to you.
