Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
My money is gone! How could they??
Today I received a notice from the bank that my account was overdrawn and a check had bounced. I had a couple thousand dollars in there, so I thought it was a simple mistake. Instead, I found that every penny of my money was taken out and I'm left with a deficit of over $7000!! I called the bank and they said it was a legal order for back child support! I'm current! It comes directly out of my paycheck! My kids are both in their 20's and I'm paying back support from a time I was in school. They have my current address and phone number and yet they never contacted me. Every penny I have is gone and I now have a massive overdraft and fees, no way to buy gas for my car, groceries or pay my bills. My paycheck will be direct deposited tonight and the bank said they would also seize that. How can they do this with no hearing, no notice, no nothing? I'm current! A payment went to them today from my paycheck as happens every week. I am shocked by this. My ex-wife received $300,000 cash and a $200,000 house in her second divorce and yet my child support never changed and I didn't say anything. Now this... Please help me understand how this possible! How can they leave me bankrupted and in serious trouble with the bank when I'm current???

I would call Patricia Bushman's office tomorrow.
You need to talk to Arlene, office manager.
She is also an attorney on this website.
I send her all my difficult TX A G cases.
I would close all your bank accounts that list your social security number immediately.
Her second divorce settlement is irrelevant.
I assume that the Office of the Texas Attorney General did this. Is it legal? They do it all the time. If you can prove you are current, you can get your money back. You will need to prove (through documentation) that you are current.
Apparently, the TX A G does NOT agree with you that you are current.
You owe the money even though the kids are over the age of 18.
The good news is that since they are over the age of 18, you cannot go to prison for nonpayment of child support.
