Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Ex Mother in Law
I am divorced and I am to pay $325.00 a month in child supprt. My ex husband is to pay me monthly payments of $643.30 for my half of the land that I was awarded in the divorce. My ex husband is letting his mother send me the land payment monthly. (He exsplained that it would be easier if his mother sent the payment for him, then he knew that it would be paid.) In the last 7 months I have had personal problems and became two months behind on my child support. I am sending going to start sending $100.00 extra a month so I can get caught up. However, My ex Mother in law continues to write me monthly letters and to tell me that they are going to file on me for being late. I have spoke to my ex husband and he assured me that no such thing will happen, that he would have to be the one to file and he is not, He understands completely why I became late on my child support. My question is,,, Is there some kind of law that gives me privacy so that my ex mother in law can not send me these letter, or threaten me about filing on me continuesly?

Re: Ex Mother in Law
No. If he chooses to discuss the litigation with her, he can. Assuming the letters only threaten to sue you, then it is merely stating a legal fact. If the letters are threatening bodily harm, then that is criminal.
