Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

mother refuses to give me insurance cards for our kids..we have joint custody. me with extended poss. time.

i pay for the insurance on top of paying child support. kids are on her insurance plan.

if my kids get sick while with me on extended poss time....i cannot take them anywhere without the insurance cards..she refuses to tell her insurance plan name or anything..

what can i do about this ??....what are all my options ????

Send a certified copy of the court order to the insurance company asking for a copy of the policy and the cards.

File for mediation.

File pre-litgation Request for Production.

File a Motion for Enforcement, and Request for Production.

It sounds as if she might not have the required insurance. Not only is that bad for your child, but you could be faced with huge medical bills should there be a serious accident or illness.

If your order is a standard one, she is required to give you that information. If it is not, it should be modified to do so.

Contact a qualified family law attorney in your area for her. An enforcement is not something that you should try to do yourself.
