Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
motion to enforce settlement
I divorced 4 1/2 years ago. My ex-husband was to pay me an alimony for 10 years. He signed this agreement as did the Judge. He has decided to stop paying me and I am considering filing for motion to enforce on my own due to the fact that legal representation is too expensive for me at this point. I am very frightened at the thought of not knowing the law and what I should present to the Judge. It states in the decree that if he is 10 days past due, I have the option of collecting the remaining balance. Should I do this myself, I don't feel as though I can afford a Lawyer.

Re: motion to enforce settlement
Of course you can do it on your own, and your concern is understandable, since it can be complicated, and you do not know the law. You can call around to see if an attorney is willing to accept the case on a payment plan, and seek reimbursement of attorney fees from your exhusband. The alternative is to go to the law library, and see if you are able to learn enough to do it on your own.
