Need to file motion for new trial. Do I have to have an attorney to do this? I've been told it's easy to do yourself but have searched for a standard form or any information on how to do it. I was served w/a petition for Conservatorship, child support, & possession of my son by his biological father. Had 20 days to respond. I had already filed with the attorney general before I was served. The attorney general filed letter to intervene for me by required time and I thought that was my response to contest the petition. The courthouse didn't have AG information in their system so I was given a default judgement. I was told to file a motion for new trial but can't find a form / format on how to do this. Is it possible to file without hiring an attorney? Is there a standard form to complete?

You only need an attorney if you can't find the forms or don't know how to fill them out or present them to the Court or argue your position or present the law to the Court. Other than that, you don't need an attorney.
