Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

i want to know if i can move out of my house at the age of seventeen to my pastors house. the case is that i live with my mom and my step dad but my step dad is sometime abussive and i got tired of it. alot of people had told me that i can move out at the age of seventeen and i did some research about it but i want a legal proof about my case. is this information correct?

Who are these people that are giving you legal advice? Are any of them attorneys? Are any of them police officers or CPS workers? I doubt it. In TX you are still a minor.

In Texas at 17 you are an adult for criminal purposes, but a child for civil purposes.

Technically in Texas your primary caregiver in the current court orders must give you permission to live where you want to live.

However, most police won't come drag you home. The police don't have the time or manpower to drag home all 17 yr. olds that want to leave home.

I'd let the pastor and your legal custodian talk it over and decide what to do.

That's the best advice I can give since I don't have any clear facts. Sorry.
